UU Ellipse Contract Ends

For the last 3-and-a-bit years I've been contracted by United Utilities (UU). For the final year I have been a Technical Lead/Lead Developer/Senior Developer.

At the core of the projects we delivered was integration with Mincom Ellipse, an Enterprise Asset Management application. Ellipse is a powerful asset management tool but hard to rollout and train to a large work force.

We built a suite of applications (commonly called GTI) using the .Net Framework (2.0 and 3.5). Each application had a single purpose and enforced the company's business rules and processes in the distribution and collection of Ellipse data. It also enabled the user interface to be tailored to the users needs. This was hugely beneficial as many of the users were not very handy with a computer.

The GTI suite was valued at over £100 million in terms of business benefit. Asset and work data quality increased greatly and Ellipse is once again at the core of the company.

The success of GTI was enough to get the UK distributors of Mincom Ellipse, AMT Sybex, interested. AMT published a case study in one of their publications.

After 3 enjoyable years it's time to move on.
